  • Managed a staff of three writers and five correspondents. Responsibilities included scheduling stories and photo assignments and carrying out. Guided designers, writers and photographers to produce enterprise projects. Oversaw the design and editing of the section and stories that appeared on A1.

  • Versatility in writing, editing, designing and planning in news, sports, business and features sections of newspapers and their websites. Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word. 

  • Curated the latest news section on the website for House of Rock (www.texashouseofrock.com), an established music venue and restaurant, for three years. Duties include writing band descriptions, posting art and embedding video on the WordPress-based site. Contributed performance photography and promotional videos to the site. Experience with iMovie and WordPress.

 

  • Managed a team of 10 that consolidated four six-day-a-week newspapers and one daily newspaper into one operation, increasing productivity by creating common pages for national and state content while maintaining individual style for each paper. This required realignment and training of personnel, development and implementation of workflows with staggered deadlines. 

 

  • The Chronicle-Tribune twice earned Blue Ribbon honors, the Hoosier State Press Association’s yearly top honor for the state’s best newspaper, during my tenure. Also earned top 10 honors from the Associated Press Sports Editors for the design and production of a special section (under 40,000 circulation) in 2000.
